Announcing our Community Funding Round
We're launching our community round on Wefunder to allow you to invest in SkinBit. As we build technology that could transform how millions access skin cancer screening, we want the people who believe in our mission to have a stake in our growth. So we're doing something important: we've opened our funding round to let you invest alongside us.
Here's how it works:
Visit our Wefunder page
Select the amount you want to invest: You can invest as little as $250 USD and receive bonus shares for early participation
Invest: Once you complete the process, you'll own equity in SkinBit and receive exclusive perks, including potential lifetime clinic memberships.
If you believe in making life-saving skin cancer detection accessible to everyone, we'd love to have you join us as both an investor and advocate.
Reflecting on our progress
Since I survived melanoma in 2020 and founded SkinBit with Justin, Manuel, Ilya and Bill in October 2024, we've been building systematically:
We’ve built an AI model comprising 50,000 skin cancer lesions and achieving 93% sensitivity and 97% specificity (based on our internal tests)
We're developing our prototype scanner and expect our first version to be ready by the end of the summer
We’ve built a growing waitlist comprising more than 2,000 patients today
We've secured exclusive licensing agreements from Stevens Institute for breakthrough sub-surface imaging to image the skin in depth
We've validated market demand through comprehensive research across 135 dermatology practices in California
Our focus is as urgent as ever: we want to transform skin cancer detection from a months-long wait into a 60-second screening accessible to everyone. We'll use this funding to complete our prototype development, launch our first deployment locations, and begin serving the 100 million Americans who lack timely access to dermatologic care.
Why this matters now
Every year, 5.4 million Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer, yet half of all dermatology care needs will go unmet by 2030 due to specialist shortages. Current screening relies on subjective visual exams, resulting in 25% of cancers being missed and 40% of unnecessary procedures.
We're building more than just technology—we're creating a new standard of care that could:
Save lives through earlier, more accurate detection
Reduce healthcare costs by preventing late-stage diagnoses
Eliminate anxiety from months-long waits for screening
Democratize access with a low-cost and ubiquitous access model
Building together
There are some things money can't buy, and authentic mission alignment is one of them. We want to thank everyone who has supported our vision, shared their stories, and provided feedback as we build. Whether you're a melanoma survivor, a healthcare provider, or someone who simply believes everyone deserves access to early detection, you've helped shape what we're creating.
If you want to join our building process directly, you can invest in our Wefunder campaign here.
Because no one should face a delayed skin cancer diagnosis while waiting months to see a specialist.
